Hi - This is simply a message of support and solidarity to an important and worthwhile campaign.
I would recommend spending a minute to visit http://www.variant.randomstate.org/pdfs/issue34/centrepages34.pdf. Taken from the current, Spring Issue of The Variant. Number 34. cheers - SMASH EDO

If we didn't intervene in afghanistan, thousands more shia muslims would have been killed by the taliban. Currently, they're still prosecuted where the taliban have strongholds in afghanistan, pakistan and in another form in Saudi Arabia where it is well documented about the plight of shias under the wahabi; surely withdrawing from afghanistan will just accentuate this.

A bloody war yes, but if we weren't at war the taliban would be allowed to enslave innocent shia muslims in afghanistan who want to live normal lives. I'd love to hear why leaving afghanistan is a good idea...I think arguements that we are wasting money on a war that is failing is a futile one that reeks of apathy. If we leave, what happens next? Clearly the pakistani and afghan authorities are unable to provide adequate security themselves, just look at the attacks in lahore, and internal instability in pakistan. I think non action would result in worse casualties than actively confronting the taliban.

Any opinions?
